I Just Thought You Should Know...

I'm starting a new segment that I'm hoping to feature every Saturday.
Can you guess what it's going to be called?

Yep, I Just Thought You Should Know is going to be a dedicated page that will feature helpful tips, professional advice on hair, nails, and skin, reviews on products and other things I love..or hate...or just simple ramblings about my life.

I L-O-V-E feedback, so if you like it, let me know .....and I'll keep on keepin' on.  If you don't, well, let me know and it will be gone with the wind. (BTW: I think I am the only one who doesn't like this book/movie in the whole wide world..... I just thought you should know.)

And so we begin...

Almond Butter

I swore to myself years ago after watching an interview with Jennifer Garner that I would try it... and I just got around to it last week.  They asked her how she kept her energy up while shooting the physically exhausting fight scenes in Alias and she replied that she ate all day long and her favorite snack was apples dipped in almond butter.  Hey if it's good enough for Sidney's good enough for me...and although I have no exhausting fight scenes to shoot in my foreseen future, (one can always hope!) I feel that maybe I can use all the help I can get chasing around my munchkins.
This is the brand I have and I love....   Kettle
Bonus:  No artificial anything, just almonds and salt.
I eat it for breakfast on a piece of whole wheat bread with a tiny bit of honey drizzled and it's great.
Note: watch portion control!  It is still high in calories and fat, although it is good fat so that's a plus.
I love it. If you haven't tried it you should  ......I just thought you should know.

Rain, Rain, Don't Go Away

My house has been a wreck this week.  And this is why..

I've been very dirty.
I've been very sweaty.
I've been very tired.
So, my house has suffered a little. I'm kind of hoping for a rainy day so I have to stay in and make myself clean, but for now, it's gonna have to hold    ......I just thought you should know.

What's Your Sign?
On days I am home and it is warm and sunny, I like to eat lunch on my front porch swing...... and I have a date.

He's a little thin, not a great conversationalist, but he has a rockin' set of wheels....

This sign makes me laugh everyday.  Here are some of the thoughts that go through my head when I am staring at it.

"Watch out for the crazy deranged stick man driving a golf cart!"
"I've never seen anyone cross their golf cart here....ever."
"Did they really need to put the clubs and bag on the back to know what it is?"
"The detail is remarkable."
"How does he make the golf cart move?  His feet don't reach the peddles."
"I guess it doesn't matter, he has no neck."
"Much funnier than the fire truck."
"If someone does drive through town with a golf cart and has clubs in the back, I am going to worry, the closest golf course is 15 miles from here."
"Who comes up with these signs, anyway?"
"Definitely funnier than the family holding hands."

...I could go on and on, but I can tell you're eyes are starting to glaze.

This sign makes me smile all the time.   ......I just thought you should know.

Skin Care Tip:
Have you ever had a zit that hurts..really bad...and is really deep under the skin? It feels like a hard knot under there and takes forever to go away.  It can get feverish, swell, get very red and you can even develop a cyst that rises up on the surface.  If you are one of the lucky ones that has never had this experience, good for you, and I'm sticking my tongue out at you right now.  But for the unlucky ones out there, like me, these are not ordinary pimples or breakouts.  It's called Cystic Acne and it can actually be very serious and sometimes leave scars.
I had read about a treatment a long time ago and it had slipped my mind, but through the wonderful world of Pinterest, it was brought to my attention again, so I thought I would give it a try.

It works wonderful. It's simple and it cost almost nothing to use.
The miracle is this...

Yep, Aspirin.
It's so easy you'll freak.
Take a spoon out of your silverware drawer.  Take half an aspirin and put it in the spoon with  2-3 drops of water and let it set until the aspirin dissolves and the mixture is pasty.  Don't use too much water or it's too runny.  Then smear it on the problem area.  I do this before bed and wear it all night.
In the morning, the swelling is down, the redness is usually gone, and almost no pain at all.  It's a miracle.  Sometimes I have to do this for a couple nights in a row, but it takes care of the problem pretty darn quick.

The reason it works so well is because the main ingredient in Aspirin is salicylic acid, which if you've ever read the ingredients in any over the counter acne treatment, you know exactly what it is.  Aspirin is also a great anti-inflammatory, just ask anyone with arthritis.

This works wonders.  I've done it, I love it, just don't do what I did and have to use Excedrin because you were out of regular old Aspirin. Excedrin are green. My hubby looked at me like I'd lost my mind as I crawled into bed with a big green dot on my face.  But it still worked and you can find generic aspirin pretty darn cheap.   .....I just thought you should know

  1. I love the advice regarding the aspirin and acne. I haven't tried it yet, but I am sure it will once again happen to me, and I will definitely be trying this out. Also, I thought you should know that I seriously love the cup/planter that you have posted in this blog! I think that is the cutest pot I have ever seen!

    1. Wal-Mart baby!...I think it was like $20 or something like that!
